2019 Nuo Mi Xiang Ripe Puerh Tea:
Tea is a popular beverage worldwide, it is made by drying teas of the Camellia sinensis plant. Pu-erh is a type of tea that is fermented, packed into bricks/cakes and aged in order to produce a more complex flavor profile over time. Pu-erh, or pu’er can be processed in one of two ways ripe (“Shou”) or raw (“Sheng”). Traditionally, it is taken for digestion, energy boosting properties, mood enhancement and weight reduction. Pu-erh contains ~60mg of caffeine as compared to coffee which contains ~90mg of caffeine. However, tea contains theophylline, l-theanine and theobromine which creates a more balanced, stimulating effect as compared to coffee. The giddy energy that it creates is known as the cha qi or “tea energy”.
This is a 2019 Nuo Mi Xiang ripe pu-erh harvested from a mix of old and young tea trees farmed in the province of Yunnan, China. It contains “Nuo Mi Xiang” which gives the tea a rice flavoring. This tea is mellow, and simple with notes of rice and cherry but provides a wonderful, relaxing and smooth energy. These complete cakes are ~357 grams.
Pu-erh should be washed 1-2 times before use. Washing can be done by breaking off 1-2 ounces and then steeping it lightly in hot water (180-195F)for about 15 seconds each time. Water should then be tossed. Steep 3-6 minutes minutes, depending on preference, at 195-212F.
Camellia sinensis.
